My Reflection
I am learning to write my own story. I was able to to the beginning, middle and end.  I found this easy because I just need to think then write.  My next step is to add more description to my writing.

We have been using problem solving skills to solve tangram puzzles. I found this tricky because I need to work on geometry.

I had to use  resilience to stick with this and solve the puzzle .
My next step is to create my own tan gram pieces and puzzles.

Making a Character Description.

I am learning to make a Character Description about Stanley Yelnats.
I was able to write a paragraph how i am different about stanley and how I am the same as stanley.
i found this tricky because I need to think what I have to write.

Korowai

This is my korowai. We were doing it for 2 terms. On November the 1st our parents came and looked at my korowai and my video which is in my blog.  Today, 2 Nov our class was performing in front of the school.  My favourite part making the designs and making it.

Making a prediction-Holes

     

I am learning to make a prediction about  a book called Holes.
I found this easy because it is easy for me to make a prediction.
my next step is to make a prediction about another book like wonder.

Highlights of Kelly Tartons Trip

       

The Reflection

We went to kelly Tartons because we were learning about sea life and plastic.I enjoyed putting my hand in the icy cold water.

My next step is to learn more about sea life creatures like how much they weigh, what they do and what they eat. 

Converting Improper to Mixed Fractions

I am learning to convert Improper to mixed fractions.I had to convert Improper to mixed fractions.I thought it was hard because it had a a lot of writing in it.I chose to share my learning by creating a copy of it.

My next step is to divide the numerator by the denominator

Features of explanation writing

The Reflection
I have been learning the features of explanation writing. The features of an explanation text are title, introduction, connectives, conjunctions, written in the right text and a good conclusion.

I found this easy because I know all of the features of an explanation writing. 
My next step is to write my own explanation writing . 

Summarising Information

 My Reflection
I have been learning to summarise information. We read a school journal article called Plastic Fantastic.I really enjoyed this article and learnt a lot about plastic rubbish.One thing I learnt was that plastic damages earth and kills people

I was able to can describe and explain character traits with examples from the text

I was able to  define what a table of contents is and be able to use one to get information

I found this tricky because I have highlight the non fiction text and look in the book to find it.

My next step is to define what an index is and be able to use one to get information.

Fact and Opion

     
My Reflection

We have been learning to identify the deference between fact and opion in texts . In this text I learnt  a lot of facts about sharks a lot of myths about sharks . I found this interesting because  I learnt a lot of information about sharks .I was surprised that sharks don't breathe underwater .
My next step is to think more about fact and opinion when I am reading.

Using a Glossary, Index and Contents to find Information

I have been learning to use a glossary, index and table of contents.We researched albatross and created a slideshow about the facts we learnt albatross live and survive.I found this helpful to use the contents and index to find more information and used the glossary learn about the
meaning of the words I didn't know. My next step is to create my own book about albatrosses on a google slide.

Learning to find the Area and Perimeter of Shapes

 The Reflection

I have been learning to find the area and perimeter of a shape.
The area of a shape is  how much squares is in the shape.
The perimeter of a shape is how much lines the shape has.
I found this easy because I know what is area and perimeter is.
My next step is to learn more about measurement.

Responding to a Text

Decimals,Fractions and Percentages

 I was learning about Decimals, Fractions and Percentages.  I had to put the decimal in the fraction and a percentages.  I thought it was going to be hard  because I didn't know anything about it before my teacher explained it to me. I chose to share my learning by creating a google drawing   I thought it was it easy because I have to put in the box's in the  right place  My next step is to create my own one.

I am learning to do a play. read texts accurately and fluently and developing  expression when reading One thing I learnt was when I am doing a play I need to be a good character and not loo at the book
My next step is to use more actions and not look at the paper or book.

I have been learning to  Find sets of fractions.  I found this easy because I know my fraction and timetables.My next step is to find percentages of numbers.

The K Sound

The Reflection
I have been learning to recognise the different ways of spelling the 'k' sound in words.  I was surprised that ch sound's like k.
I now know that c,k,ch and 'ck' are k sounds.
This will help me in my spelling because I now know how to spell words with k sounds.
My next step is to use this learning to help me spell accurately.

Making Connections

My Reflection

I have been learning to make connections(both implicit and explicit) from the text. Implicit is when we use clues from the text because it doesn't say directly.explicit  is when it says it in the text.

I found this easy because I did  it last year.

My next step is to I can connect ideas from other text I have read.

I have been learning to make connections in the text I read.We read a story called ' storm get a new family! A connection I made to the story wasn't to make connections.   I found this interesting because I learnt that SPCA takes care of animal.

I have been learning to conduct a simple inquiry.I investigated what room 24's favourite online games was.I discovered that Minecraft I was surprised that most of the people like Minecraft

My next step is to use a table in goggle sheets to display data.

My Reflection

I have been learning about the different parts of graphs. I learnt that title, data, labels and scales are the most important parts.

I found this tricky because I did not know where the scale go.

My next step is to create my own graph by collecting data.

I have been learning to write a kenning poem.A kennings poem  is like a riddle .It describes something without actually saying what it is.The poem is about me.

My Welcome post 2018

Welcome to my Year 5 learning blog.  This year I am in Room 24 and my teacher is Mrs Melville,  I enjoy playing at rainbow's end and nerf war.  A goal I have this year is to level up 3 levels at everything. I hope you enjoy my blog and leave lots of feedback.
